San Diego Jazz Vocalist Katie Catinella studied classical voice as an undergraduate at San
Francisco State University. After graduating with a minor in music, she honed her vocal skills in a variety of Bay area
ensembles, including the Oakland Symphony Chorus. A chance invitation to join a jazz
ensemble introduced her to the Great American Songbook and ignited her passion for
jazz singing.
She enrolled at The Jazz School in Berkeley, California, where her teachers included the reknowned vocalists Kitty Margolis and Weslia Whitfield. Performance venues in her native northern California have included The Purple Onion
in San Francisco, The Majestic Hotel in San Francisco and Kelly's of Alameda. Since moving to Southern California, she has performed at The Catalina
Marathon's 30th Anniversary Celebration, Tapenade Restaurant in La Jolla, Vigilucci's Restaurant in La Jolla and Winestyles in Encinitas. She has been a guest singer at Anthology, Humphrey's Backstage Lounge and The Tangier Lounge at The Bahia Hotel in San Diego and Shooters Lounge at the Sheraton Hotel in La Jolla.
